In August 2004, The House at Yarm was bought by the Bell brothers, Peter and Steven (after having sold their chain of 54 strong convenience stores to Sainsbury’s). Steven and Peter have each brought with them over 30 years retailing knowledge and experience, and with the history of The House in the designer clothing business, a match was made in heaven. The House Designer Wear’s vision is to provide the highest quality designer clothing, shoes and accessories combined with excellent customer service, to confirm the fact that the task of buying beautiful clothes should be a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Peter, who is menswear buyer says “the mantra is always about style combined with fashion” to achieve the look that customers seek, I feel we have all the best designers to suit the taste of most men and women in the North East and with the Café Bistro in store, it would be difficult to find a better place for a retail fix, accompanied by something to eat and a bite to eat.

The House is situated in the Historical town of Yarm, and is the main retail presence of a town packed with quirky independents, antique stores and some great bars and restaurants.

Menswear at The House, our men’s floor is an extent of our firm belief in ‘style over fashion’ while keeping an eye on the latest trends in the menswear market, we believe that labels like Polo Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Armani, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood never go out of fashion, we accompany these large fashion house brands with classic labels steeped in heritage like Loake Shoemakers, Lacoste and Oliver Sweeney.

Our Women’s department has a fantastic brand mix, sourcing designers from across the globe, we are currently official stockists for Armani, BOSS, Betty Barclay, Esprit, Michael Kors, OUI, Paul Smith, Polo Ralph Lauren and Ted Baker to name a few. More recently we have added British lifestyle brand Joules to the mix, along with A Postcard from Brighton.

We would love you to pay us a visit soon.

Kind Regards,

Peter and Steven Bell
